Two forms of Reed Warbler occur: Eurasian Reed Warbler and Caspian Reed Warbler. They are very difficult to tell apart, although in spring the Caspian Reed Warbler has fresher, crisper plumage and a greyish cast to the neck. Both forms are spring and autumn migrants, and the species is suspected to breed from time to time. It inhabits dense reed beds, but during migration can be found in all habitats with bushes and trees, including parkland.
