The Qatar List provides the official record of bird taxa occuring in a wild state in Qatar. The list adopts the taxonomic order, English and scientific names presented in the OSME Regional List, ORL as closely as possible.
Arabic bird names are currently not included in the Qatar List or ORL; the Kuwait bird list provides a useful resource in this regard.

Species occurring in Qatar are recorded as below; only Category A, B and C taxa are included on the official list.
Category A – Taxa occurring in an apparently wild state. Category A taxa are included in the official Qatar List.
Category B – Taxa on the Qatar List for which there is an accepted historic record, and which would otherwise appear in Category A, but for which there is currently no known supporting documentation. Category B taxa are included in the official Qatar List.
Category C – Taxa that, although originally introduced, now derive from the resulting self-sustaining populations. Category C taxa are included in the official Qatar List.
Category D – Taxa for which vagrancy is possible, and which would otherwise appear in Category A, except that there is reasonable doubt of natural occurrence. Category D taxa are not included in the official Qatar List.
Category E – Escaped, released or otherwise unnaturally introduced taxa that do not derive from self-sustaining populations and for which vagrancy is highly unrealistic. Category E taxa are not included in the official Qatar List.
Category F – axa whose occurrence in Qatar has been demonstrated in the ancient, archaeological or palaeontological, record and which are not represented in either Category A, B or C. Category F taxa are not included in the official Qatar List.
